Combat Handgun Shoot

This used to be the CCW Shoot, our CCW Shoot now is more of a beginner class

Our hand gun shoots incorporate a series of targets. Standing, falling, swinging and drop-turn targets. A different scenario is used at each shoot. The shoot begins drawing from holster or concealment and engaging multiple targets. All targets are scored and timed for your information and not placement in finish.

Reloads are almost always used in multiple ways, tactical with rounds remaining in the magazine which requires that you retain the magazine and not drop it or slide lock reload where the magazine can be dropped and move on.

Round count is anywhere for 12-24 rounds and the scenario is generally run twice.

Its a great exercise to build aim and point skills and target acquisition.

Hostage targets are often used forcing you to place your shots very precisely.

For the shoot you will need:

Firearm of your choice but preferably .380 caliber or above with a holster

Multiple magazines

Minimum 1 box of ammunition

Hearing protection

Eye protection

To participate you must be on time for the safety meeting.

Basic rules:

When you arrive, if you are carrying a loaded firearm please go directly to the range and unload the firearm or if it is not the one you intend to use store it safely in your vehicle.

Handling of firearms during the event behind the line is strictly forbidden, magazines may be loaded but not inserted in the gun till you are on the line and instructed to do so.

Firearms while being handled are always to be pointed down range and never sweep anyone with the weapon whether loaded or not.

After completing your session, drop your magazine or open cylinder and clear the chamber, wait for the safety officer to call clear. Once cleared close action, drop hammer, holster and then pick up your magazine. That will be the last time you handle that firearm till your next session. If you have an issue with the firearm see the safety officer to correct it.

Failing to follow any of these rules will result in your being dismissed for the day, endangering someone else is not excusable.
